ABOUT THE PROGRAM
New Horizons is a program run monthly from October to May at Snider Mountain Ranch. Each year, 35 children are selected to spend one weekend per month at the Ranch. The program is directed towards potentially at-risk elementary-aged students from Saint John and Sussex.
The program was begun at the Ranch in 2016 and has had a measured positive impact on the lives of the past participants. Activities are intentionally designed to reach development goals for the students, including measured increases in self-esteem and sense of purpose. Activities include crafts, sports, projects, chores and educational sessions and focus on skill development and entrepreneurship. We want to see long-term positive impacts which will allow the students to flourish as members of society.
WAYS TO HELP
The program relies on the generous financial contributions of benevolent and caring businesses, organizations and community members. Expenses include transportation to and from the Ranch, food for the six family-meals served during the weekend, program expenses, and other necessities including providing jackets, toques, and toiletries. Help us cover the costs of attendance for a student for a month, or for the year.
